Day 1 of 2013's Madden NFL 23 Draft wasn't expected to be a major event in the case of LSU cornerback Tharold Simon, however it became interesting when he was arrested on Thursday night for charges of public intoxication and resisting an officer and a noise-related violation that was not necessary while in his vehicle. Simon's lawyer Peter Schaffer immediately set out to repair the damage, and was reported to have told Pro Football Talk that he has "20 witnesses" who believe that Simon was not guilty of any offense.
"I have spent the greater portion of the day investigating the matter, and have obtained statements from more than twenty witnesses,"" Schaffer told reporters. "The witnesses confirm that Tharold was not guilty of any wrongdoing and certainly not in a way that was illegal, and he behaved with respect and respect throughout the whole incident. I am 100 % certain that there will not be any charges brought against him. We are considering pursuing an action against the office over a violation the rights of Tharold's family."
In the report of police, Simon did not want to leave his vehicle for an officer from his home town in Eunice, La. Instead, he turned his radio completely up, and threatened to get the officer dismissed if he attempted to issue Simon an accusation. In a conversation with PFT Schaffer, he said "I am disgusted by the conduct of officers from the Eunice, Louisiana police department."
